Tutorial Origami - Father's Day Card

Father's Day is around the corner.

Want to make something different for your father this year? Here is a sample of an origami shirt which you can turn into a nice father's day card.

Outside:

Inside:

Instructions:

Fold a piece of paper into two and then open it.

You can use either square or rectangular paper. For children I recommend you use either origami paper or 70/80 gsm colour paper because it's easier for you to fold it.

Now fold permanently both side of the paper. Use the line as your guideline so that you can fold both side equally and nicely.

Fold again and this time upward and remember to fold it not half but lower a bit.

On the higher end, fold it slant this way to make the shirt's collar.

At the back of the collar, fold again slantly half way down.

This is how it's look like after you fold both sides.

On the other end fold open slantly to create the sleeves.

At the lower part of the shirt. Fold both end like this.....and open. Just to create the folding lines.

Now push it inside.

And now its done. A nice shirt for your father.

Here is another way of making the collar. Fold the higher end backward.

Fold it slant to the inside. But remember to fold it half way down only.

This is how it looks like from the back. It's different from the blue shirt. The collar would be the same colour as the shirt but for the blue shirt, the colour of the collar is the inside colour of the paper which is white colour.

Same like the blue shirt, open up the sleeves.

All green....you can either leave it this way or fold the lower end of the shirt just like the blue one. It your choice. Have fun...

Decorate the shirt to make it nicer using your own creativity.

Stick a piece of paper inside and write anything you like. You can even use a stick on note. If you want, you can even print out the wording using the computer and decorate it with border or any other clip art.

Tips:

To make a nice two colour shirt - layer two different colour paper and fold it together. You can either cut one piece smaller or you can even fold both end of one piece smaller than the other. (this can be done on the second step)
